How to avoid knee pain during the asana class?

In the present time , many people are practicing yoga. All around the world many yoga studios have been opened.People join these yoga studios or centers to be healthy.Yoga brings harmony into the body , gives our body right shape , our glands and other organs works efficenly , bone desity increases etc.But many times students complain about pain in different joints during the asana class. The reason of a join pain many many. But in this article , I will explain the pain because of bad postures. We can have pain in the shoulder joints ,knee joints , pain in buttucks as well.

I am covering the pain in knee joint.

Knee joint pain can be bacause of arthritis or it can because of bad postures during the asana.
But first of all , lets take look about joints.

A joint or articulation (or articular surface) is the connection made between bones in the body. They are constructed  in a way that we are allowed for different degrees and types of movement.

There are different types of joints , these are as follows:

Fibrous joint – These are  joined by dense regular connective tissue that is rich in collagen fibers. These joints are not movable. For example ,the joint between teeth and jaw bone(maxilla).
Cartilaginous joint – These are joined by a cartilage. These joints have little movability.Cartilage is a structural component of the body. It is a firm tissue but is softer and more flexible than bone. Cartilage is a connective tissue and it is found in many regions of the body. For example , the joint between the anterior end of a rib and the costal cartilage of the thoracic cage.
Synovial joint –  These joints are higly movable. In these joints , the bones have a synovial cavity and are united by the dense irregular connective tissue that forms the articular capsule. In this cavaity , there is a lubricating fluid know as synovial fluid. So because of synovial fluid , these joints can move freely. For example knee joint, elbow joint etc.

During the asana practice , many students feel uncomfortable or pain in knee and in most of the cases they have front knee pain , this is known as  Patellofemoral syndrome (PFS).They experiecne pain in warrior pose ,chair pose etc.

Symptons:

Students experience pain at the front of the knee.

They have feeling stiffness in the knees after long immobility and difficulty walking down stairs.

When femur (thigh bone) cartilage rubbed against patella (kneecap) cartilage whenenever the knee is bent , it causes Patellofemoral syndrome.
Causes:

Overload
Jump repititvely
being overweight
Poor alignment
Flat feet, poor footwear, running on uneven surfaces.
Solution:
Use the quadriceps(thigh muscles) of front leg and use hamstrings , inner thigh muschles of back leg in knee bent postures.
strengthen the muscles that support the knee (quadriceps, hamstrings, hip rotators)

Bringh your awareness whenever knee is bent.

Distrubute the weight evenly on four corners of the foot.
Avoid kneeling poses when the knee is irritated.
